The Elements of Bathroom Decor
Bathroom decor has tremendous possibilities and can be influenced by the many elements of the bath, such as the faucets, sinks, tubs, showers, and cabinetry, ranging in style from modernistic to an old world.
The bathroom is not just a utility, it is the room that can set the tone for the rest of the day and also be a space for pampering, so it’s definitely an important room as any to invest in. In fact the bathroom has surpassed other remodeling trends and with the many choices available can make your bath elegant or fun depending on your taste and whether it is the master bath, the children’s, a small or half bath.
Determine what style of the bath you want and gain inspiration from home decorating magazines, open houses, on the web, books and TV.
Many of the different elements comprising the bath, when put together create a style and all have variations to make them individual, but all of them in one way or another will fall into the two main categories of either modern or traditional.

White and neutral bathrooms can be utilized in both traditional or modern style depending on the other features and is a safe choice for a starting point and all kinds of decor. And especially if your taste changes often, the neutral colors and plain features that can be given a different twist with accents to change it down the road later, may be the option for you.
Some elements that are going to determine your style of bathroom decor will lie in the fixtures including bathroom lighting.
Bathroom lighting covers a full range from whimsical and funky to simplistic and utilitarian in all colors and shapes.
They are offered with the options of dimmers that allow you to dim the light for ambiance or have them bright when applying makeup and such.
Faucets at the shower, tub and sinks also define the overall decorating style of this space. Traditional fixtures are more ornate and decorative and are at home in the classic traditional, a cottage, or country bath while modern fixtures are sleek, streamlined and can be somewhat trendy with a gooseneck or waterfall faucet and look well in a high-tech minimalist bath.

Both the traditional bath and contemporary bath do well with the basic faucets of chrome, brass or a combination of the two.
Modern and high-tech bathrooms have fashionable fixtures of the times including pedestal sinks with vessels made up of hand-blown glass, or sinks above the counter tops in unique or creative shapes as well as the use of stainless steel.
Tubs are rectangular with square tiles or a curvy whirlpool, shower doors are with plain glass or beaded with a modernistic appeal and call for a low profile commode.
Traditional bathrooms are classic and formal and may show sinks of marble, stain glass shower doors depicting a period style, and the use of a sunken, roman, or claw-foot bathtubs.
