Bathroom Decorating Ideas
With Beautiful Results

Bathroom decorating ideas and a little pampering at the same time.

People tend to steer their focus on the areas of the home where they know to spend a lot of time, like the family room and the kitchen and of course moms like to know that their kids’ rooms are done.

By the time it comes to do the master bedroom or for decorating bathrooms it gets pushed to the back burner or given a back seat because "no one sees this room anyway.”

But you need to feel comfortable and rested in these rooms as well.

Enjoy a fresh look with bathroom decorating ideas that don't need to be expensive but can transform your bath into a beautiful and private sanctuary.

Clear the clutter, and organize the stuff you’ve accumulated.

Take out all of the things from under the vanity, the drawers and the medicine cabinet and start tossing. If you haven't used the product since you bought it two years ago or it is half-gone, you aren't going to start using it now.

Chances are you forgot it was there, and it’s not a good idea to start using it now anyway because of the shelf life on cosmetics.

Keep only those things that are some musts have and organize in clear plastic containers, boxes, bins and cosmetic bags. So you can see what is in there but organized and out of sight.

Bathroom decorating ideas that deliver a quick and immediate result is to paint.

Choose a nice clean color in either a natural tone, or soft spa colors which are both soothing to the senses and nice to work with.

This could be a project you do yourself if you are so inclined.

  • Consider a faux finish.

A great way to introduce a faux finish into your home if you like the look but don’t want to make the commitment. The bathroom is small enough to try yourself, or if you don't want to attempt the project yourself, its cost effective to hire an artist for a really distinctive look.

  • Wallpaper may not suit for a master bath because of the steam of the shower but perhaps a border if you want the addition of a pattern.

Bathroom decorating ideas that soften the utilitarian feel of the bath are to introduce unique pieces of furniture. This will add warmth and another style element from which to draw. If your bathroom is large, you can introduce a cabinet with glass doors to serve as a linen closet or an antique chest of drawers.

Small bathroom designs can accommodate a bench to stack fluffy towels tied up in twine or ribbon, and if one will fit, a small chair or ottoman would be a great addition. I love that look in a bathroom but can't fit one in mine.

  • A lot of bathrooms have the shower door enclosures, but if you have a tub that needs a curtain, consider using fabric drapes instead of your typical "plastic” to decorate the bathroom.

  • Using a fabric shower curtain softens the bath and is more sensual. It gives you the freedom to be more custom and individual with your decorating. (Of course you will still need to use a liner.)
  • Take ready-made drapes that can be taken down to wash and hang as a shower curtain. If you sew, you can add length to the bottom for a more luxurious look, or add a ruffle for a cottage bathroom style.
  • Fabric at the window offers ways to introduce pattern and color. It could just be a simple treatment, by picking out a favorite fabric, and turning it into a valance you stitch yourself using ribbon to tie or trim for accents. Depending on the fabric, it could fit into any style motif. Be creative, especially in the kid's bathroom and small bathroom decorating.
One of many bathroom decorating ideas that are fairly simple to implement is to change the light fixture to another style, or installing a chandelier.

Adding a chandelier would be a nice romantic touch or an old world feel to your bathroom decor. Installing a pair of wall sconces on either side of the mirror gives you more flattering light for applying make-up and shaving.

If you weren't thinking of getting quite that involved with your bathroom makeover, just changing the type of light bulb will give you more light or less depending on the needs and mood you want created.

You don't need to change everything at once to feel good about what something small can do to the look of your bath or how you feel about it. And it only takes one bathroom decorating idea to get motivated.

But if you are going to take part in a larger project, home decorating with ceramic tiles especially when creating a flooring pattern with the larger sizes are more versatile than ever in the bath.
