Bedroom Paint Colors
A Perfect Harmony

So many bedroom paint colors to choose from, where does one begin?

Many times we feel as homeowners (and apartment dwellers) that we need to address all the other rooms in our homes first before doing the bedroom because "no one sees the bedroom anyway."

That’s fine, but we really do owe it to ourselves to make the bedroom a private sanctuary where one can recharge and relax, high on the decorating “to do” list.

After all it is the first room you see when you start your day in the morning and the last thing you see upon retiring at night.

The opportunities for bedroom paint colors are practically endless, but aim to create an atmosphere that is harmonious and that provides comfort.

Inspiration can come from the colors and textures that invoke a feeling of calm as well as an object that enhances a relaxed mood. And what a better time if you are beginning new or adding to an existing scheme to provide a refreshing lift to the bedroom than now that the color trend for 2010 calls for an aquatic and serene palette.

The best way to describe the key colors for this design color trend is aquatic, serene, zesty and exotic.

And while bedrooms can look great in deep vibrant colors, for a peaceful and restful atmosphere, the relaxing colors of turquoise, aqua and the deep blues of the ocean are perfect.

Bedroom paint colors in turquoise Turquoise is a combination of blues and greens (think tropical waters) and is also an exotic gemstone known historically for its protective properties, while an aqua palette is composed of light and deeper blues.

Other serene colors suitable for bedroom paint colors from the 2010 line up might include lavender and deep yellows.

Of course the lavender plant is known for its soothing properties.

Decorating in the lighter values of these cool colors of blues, greens and lavenders can make a small bedroom appear larger and more open because the colors will appear to recede visually.

When used properly, warm forsythia yellow can be quite peaceful, and soft shades of peaches and pinks are flattering and will create a soothing ambiance for your bedroom.

But keep in mind too, the neutral bedroom paint colors of warm gray and warm beige are quietly elegant and understated making them an excellent choice for a soothing bedroom.

Also they offer enormous flexibility since they go with everything, making the decorating of your room, simple and easily possible to make changes on a whim for an instant update without having to repaint the whole room.

neutral bedroom paint colors Bedrooms are very personal and offer a great opportunity to become expressive, so once you select your decorating color palette, perhaps you will want to experiment with faux finishes. If you choose one that reflects your taste and compliments your furniture your walls will gain an illusion of depth and added dimension.

And while you are painting, create a soft dimension to your ceiling by using a color a shade lighter than the walls to make rooms with low ceilings appear more spacious, and a darker shade if you want to draw a high ceiling down making the room more intimate.

It may not be any easier to leave the bed and get up in the morning but it will surely be pleasing to look at.
