Fittings are bath terms that apply to faucets, handles and other hardware. The various materials include chrome, nickel, pewter, stainless steel, brass, bronze and copper.

If starting from scratch, it is always best to choose white bathroom fixtures. Other colors are to subject to the whims of fashion and the deeper the color the more the dirt shows!

Supplement daylight with lamps at the mirror to evenly light the face for applying make-up or shaving.

Ideally the light fixtures should be mounted at eye level or just above on either side of the mirror. Mounting a diffused light fixture on the wall over the mirror will also combat the shadows.

Use seamless glass walls instead of shower curtains for a sense of spaciousness in a small room.

Glass tiles is emerging as a favorite material for the shower. Combine glass with hand painted porcelain tiles to create accents or borders.
