Unfinished Wood Furniture

Unfinished wood furniture is a great option for getting a perfect piece that you want to complete the living room, bedroom or any just about any room of the house.

Also referred to as ready-to-finish furniture, it offers a broad range of choices and made of quality craftsmanship in solid wood and made to fit most budgets.

Quality solid wood furniture when beautifully crafted is extremely durable and long lasting and when treated with care can last a lifetime to be handed down from one generation to the next.

And ready to finish furniture is available in a range of hardwoods which can include alder, ash, beech, birch, maple and oak with distinctive grain patterns and some soft woods used is Eastern white pine.

Furniture crafted of genuine wood and made from an all-natural resource, is the perfect choice for your home. (Look for pieces made of genuine wood and not from particle board, which can be prone to denting and chipping and really does not hold up well.)

The best part about unfinished wood furniture is that you can have your selection finished any way you want. You can choose to have a piece blend in with the rest of your furnishings or create something totally unique and bold to become the focal point in a room.

There are three ways in which the pieces can be finished.

  • One is to do it your self which of course would be the most cost effective.
  • Otherwise select a finish the manufacture offers,
  • and finally if you are looking to do something with multi colors or with a specialty finish of crackle or distressed, then you can opt for something more custom.

Many times when purchasing a dining buffet or a kitchen island they can be purchased without a top if you would prefer to have a slab of granite or something else to serve as the top to match your existing kitchen counters.

In addition to custom finishes, very often you can custom design the piece itself to better serve your needs.

  • For example, solid wood doors could be replaced with glass, additional shelving or lighting could be added to a wall unit to show off your collectibles, or a stem ware rack for a bar set up and wine storage.
  • An armoire can have more shelves and drawers added and reworked to provide more hanging storage space or to handle a TV.
  • Moldings can unite a set of bookcases giving the unit a “built in” look and give doors a paneled appearance. Sometimes the sizes can be changed to fit in your particular space.

This is just a sampling of solid wood furniture pieces that are available.

Others unfinished wood furniture choices include but not at all limited to, coffee, end and accent tables, dining room tables and chairs, sideboards and buffets, bedroom furniture including dressers, night stand, kitchen carts, desks, printer stands, and toy boxes and only limited by your imagination.
